Tagging shells
Various researchers recommend using "bee tags" to mark snail
shells inthe field. Bee tags are normally sold for marking honey
bees kept in hives. Unfortunately, the suppliers of bee tags still
seem to be trundling along in the 19th century and haven't figured
out what the internet is. However, there is a potentially useful
alternative to beetags. Floytag, based in Seattle, Washington,
carries a wide array of wildlife tags, including small vinyl,
UV-stable, numbered tags as smallas 1/4" x 1/8" ovals. These can
be glued to a cleaned and dried shell using super glue or acrylic.
